When I open a magazine [or for you more digitally inclined folk, open my iPad], and just so happen to turn the page to a photo shoot spread featuring that season’s styles or whatever the publication is promoting in its photography, it isn’t often that I finish absorbing the photo shoot with fuzzy feelings.
OK, so “fuzzy feelings” may be a 7-year-old way of phrasing it, but let’s get real here: magazine photography often leaves us feeling like we’re needing more. Whether it’s needing more fashion in our life [or just the right kind], or needing better hair, better skin, better bodies … better US! — editorially produced photography is nothing more an INsecurity blanket that is laid on top of our heads and in all honesty, can suffocate us to the point of forgetting our universe-given blessings and the potential that our lives yields.
I don’t want you to feel those feelings when you look at SDV photography. I want you to smile. I want you to laugh. I want you to think, “Oh, that’s real.” or “Oh, I can do that.” or “Oh! I want to know that model!” That’s why I blogged a behind-the-scenes post last week — to give you a better understanding of what this photo shoot was all about. The purpose, the pride, and the pertinence to YOU!
It’s a connection between you, the photography, and the impression you leave with. An impression that represents YOU as much as it represents my brand and it’s messaging.
