The Fur Debate: How to be Sustainable & Recycle Vintage Fur for Good Causes

Winter white clothing is a vibrant alternative to the season’s usual palette of ho-hum hues from drab dyes (grays, browns and blacks … this means you!).

While the holidays brighten our wardrobes with reds, greens and golds, there is a chicer way to inspire winter wonder with my favorite cold season hue: winter white!

And we’re not just talking any “white” here: Winter white is less about wearing a starchy white dress shirt. Rather, wearing winter white gives us choices from cream and buttermilk to ivory and shell. Not to mention the many materials a winter white can be — soft silk, luxuriousness lace, cozy knit, funky fur and more.

When it comes to shopping vintage fashion online, you’ve got an array of awesome opportunities to buy a piece of this no-color color!

Keep reading after the jump to watch my video on vintage winter white clothing, plus my advice on where to buy similar vintage versions of the winter whites I share from vintage boutique A Little Wicked.

Happy winter white shopping, everyone!!

One of the most popular pieces in my video on winter whites (below) was the 1960s lace cream dress — it’s so divine! So to give you a few ideas on similar versions to buy, I included a great lace dress alternative below plus a few more ideas on where to get lace dresses and even more winter whites in my Shop Finds page.

I hope today’s curation of winter white vintage clothing that captivates your style attention as much as it did mine. If I had my choice, I’d buy it all up, wear each piece once and then ship this winter white collection to vintage lovers all of the country in a friendly swap exchange!

Are you an online vintage seller with some stellar winter whites in your shop now? Tweet me a link to your piece for sale online so I can share and spread more vintage love.

We’re in the midst of enjoying the holidays and as of two days ago, officially the season of winter! I wish all vintage lovers a happy holiday and a winter season full of style that makes you smile ;-)

THE PIECE: A truly one-of-a-kind dress of buttermilk-colored lace and accented with a bold, black bow.

While it costs a pretty penny, this vintage seller guarantees only the best vintage product that’s delivered quickly to your door.

And the best part is? The dress isn’t teeny-tiny! According to seller measurements, waist size ranges from 26 inches loose to 29 inches tight depending on give of lace. Approximate modern size of dress is small.

Check out the seller’s vintage website for more great finds and fashion inspiration!

THE PIECE: Technically a cotton summer frock, I envy the lucky lady who takes this clean vintage palette home with her: What great brush strokes you can layer and drape and drool over!

It’s the perfect dress to transform into the base of whatever your statement style may be — whether it’s wearing a colored-fur coat on top (Cruella De Vil, anyone?) or with a bright sheer overlay in gem hues to channel some boho babe. Or, keep it traditionally modern with a cashmere cardigan in a color of your fancy, sweet Mary Jane shoes and simple studs.

Personally? I’d funk it up with cowboy boots and leg warmers paired with thick knit stockings and a cropped leather jacket on top!

THE PIECE: If this vintage top could talk … oh the stories she would tell!

I believe that clothing — especially vintage! — have spirits. And the spirit of this Victorian-style lace top sings SEXY!

A vintage-loving girl can wear some lace without worry that she’s exposing too much, but still strut with confidence thanks to her ladylike lux.

Add a vintage mini leather skirt (black preferred!) and some wedge ankle boots + tights and you’ve got a killer look!

THE PIECE: A vintage mock turtleneck in off-white. From behind, this looks more like your Dad’s kind of snuggie sweater.

But upon closer look, this winter white has a whole other shade of wonderful thanks to the pearls dotted along the neckline. Don’t just call it practical — call it practically pretty.

This is the type of sweater I’d expect J.Crew or Banana Republic to mass-produce in every color under the sun. Ignore the chain stores and shop vintage instead: Your winter whites never looked more unique!

THE PIECE: If you didn’t already know … I’m a tad bit obsessed with fuzzy, furry, fun & funky hats on my head!

The reason? Well it really stems from my desire to stand out from the crowd. And what better way to get noticed than with a big ball of fluff up front and center?

But vintage lovers, the truth is that having some oh-so-soft-and-touchable on your head is more wonderful than wacky! Wearing a hat like this vintage one (made from lambswool, so more ethically-inclined than other vintage fur options) will get you noticed, complimented and feeling good — not to mention warm.
