Vintage for Haiti: Sammy Davis Vintage Benefit Sale Celebrates Style with Substance

by Sammy in — 7 Comments — Updated April 23, 2010

The platform of style with substance never felt more real than it did last Sunday, April 18th at the first Sammy Davis Vintage Benefit Sale!

Nearly 100 ladies & gents visited the sale space to help send a girl to school in Haiti and to learn more about the mission of She’s the First.

That’s right: 100 PEOPLE! Co-host Katie Wagner [look for her picture with her mama at the bottom of this post] swears by it. I was too busy dressing and mingling with all of the attendees to even notice that the massive UWS space had turned into the shoulder-to-shoulder environment of a frat party [or fabulous sample sale!] I think the last shopper left around 8PM … I felt like the mall on Christmas Eve, shutting my doors to eager shoppers!

And that’s exactly what I had hoped would happen: that the excitement I promote in these blog posts, my Facebook updates, my email newsletter, and just my general energy and zest — would inspire YOU to hop a train, a bus, a cab, whatever! and pay visit to the first of many benefit sales.

Thanks to your investment in SDV, 14-year-old Cherdeline has the opportunity to attend school in Haiti. She’ll also receive books, a uniform and a hot meal everyday. I can’t wait to write her a letter introducing myself as her sponsor and to connect directly with the platform I have established for my brand.

While Sunday’s priority was to inspire you – to see that you can invest in fashion that not only rocks, but helps a greater cause and is sustainable for the environment — it also inspired ME. It inspired me to make one HUGE decision …

… that EVERY SDV sale would be a benefit sale. That when you take time from your amazing, but busy! lives to come to one of my sales, that you know you’ll enter an empowered environment of networking and philanthropic opportunity.

So who/what will the next SDV sale benefit? Sign up for my newsletter to find out ;-) It’s gonna be BIG!
