Hello Sammy,
Thank you for your very useful information! I am wondering if you have any advice on re-styling old fur coats without the expense of a professional furrier? I am perticularly interested in weather a fur desinged for a woman can be re-designed for a man, can a zipper be sewn into a jacket, and is it possible to sew a hood onto a jacket.
Thank you again!!!

It makes sense to consider buying sterling silver in bulk because it will be cheaper that way. My spouse and I are trying to get some sterling silver pieces for our family this year. We need to find a great place to purchase these from so that we are getting a good deal on a quality product.

This is awesome! One thing that is also rad is the amount of retro brands that are coming back! When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s, all of the cool kids had Gecko Hawaii, T&C, and Gotcha shirts -- with SUPER bright neons, which practically don't exist anymore because nowadays people use digital printers, which make colors way less vivid, cheaper, and print on demand. I did recently discover that Gecko Hawaii came back about a year ago and they are doing what they call the "Retro Printing Process" with puffed inks and CRAZY beautiful, nostalgic neons and colors. I got one and it literally brought me back to that exact time period in my life. I HIGHLY recommend getting one of their shirts for anyone into a serious clean/vintage retro look -- I don't think there is anything else quite like it. Their shop is geckohawaii and just visiting the site will bring you back in time. I've started combing eBay for their old stuff, but I think the new stuff is brighter, better, and cleaner! :)

This is so interesting and helpful! I bought a dress recently that was marked 30s/40s. The dress is silk and has a 30s silhouette but the shoulders are puffed laced with a Peter Pan collar (very 40s). The back of the dress is all lace with all satin covered buttons. Maybe late 30s? More likely with the puffed sleeves and collar, very early 40s?

I have a tan wool cape that's lined with brown piping and 3 buttons at the top. The lsbel in blue has DM 751667, National Board Coat and Suit Industry. The other label is the ILGWU in blue with a needle from left top to bottom right. I think it might be from 1959 to 1963 from the label. I'm donating to the church auction and would love to have an idea of worth.

In reply to <a href="https://sammydvintage.com/vintage-style/50s/1950s-style-looks/comment-page-1/#comment-4185">Viv</a>.

Dear Viv,
That may well be your view and many other peoples views too, but it's not necessarily true. Most girls I know don't wear booty shorts and only few of them wear tank tops, but that's to be expected in flippin summer of all seasons! It's hot and fashion changes along with the decades. If you don't like it, I suggest you stop looking at what girls wear and just be happy that they're confident in themselves since most girls aren't. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. :)
