The model on the left in “Iman: Then Versus Now” is not Iman, but Donyale Luna, another influential black model who rose to prominence a bit before Iman did.

Christy Turlington always seemed silly ass, why? His speech drives me nuts. I hate the way he talks and gestures, like a silly girl and says a lot of nonsense. She may have gone to college, but he certainly be foolish not been removed at all.
I too have been to college and I think better than anyone. I live in NYC and I have crossed occasionally (though now I have not) and some people can stop on the street and ask for an autograph.

when some girls were idolizing pop stars and playing with dolls, i was looking up to supermodels, especially those with rockstar husbands. my fave was nikki taylor and claudia schiffer and her rockin overbite. nothing compares to their influence and talent back then and im so happy when i see them around still. they have only gotten better with age.

Oh, how I remember idolizing these ladies in junior high with my girlfriends! Christy Turlington was our favorite (and bad-girl, Linda Evangelista too).

Absolutely love this post! The 80s and 90s were the era of “Fun Fashion” and I couldn’t agree more that models had personalities that made fashion less voyeuristic. They strutted down the catwalk, were friendly and smiled! Sure wish they would bring back this era of fashion!
