5 Effective Ways to Combat Wedding Planning Stress

by Nicole Leave a Comment

Wedding planning is no simple task. If you are not careful, you could find yourself very stressed. Especially now when you must make your wedding plans alongside a pandemic. If there’s one thing that you do not need just before your wedding, it is stress.

But you’ll find yourself having to handle a lot of wedding details and organize people. Sometimes, this could happen in a short period of time. Many couples who got married in the past six months had a shorter wedding planning time than usual. This was because of the uncertainty of the time.

Having to do so much in such little time will take its toll on you. Before you know it, you’ll be feeling really low and tired. Sadly, if you continue juggling things at the same rate, the feelings could intensify and turn into something worse.

So how do you plan your wedding and avoid as much stress as you can in the meantime? Here are six ways that experts say go a long way in helping couples combat wedding planning stress.

Take A Break

Turn off your TV, put your phone away, close your laptop, and disconnect for 20 minutes. Maybe read a book or something else that forces you to unplug. Taking an occasional break while planning your wedding is an excellent way to keep your stress levels from getting too high.

Take A Step Back from Social Media

The more you look at all those out-of-this-world celebrity wedding videos, the more pressure you’ll put yourself under to have a wedding just like that. Here’s a tip, sometimes those weddings are not really as they seem. Take a step back to save yourself the stress.

Clean Something

Remember that time when you were feeling low and tidied up your house, and then you suddenly felt better? Apply that principle here. Cleaning or organizing something can be incredibly satisfying and will give you the much-needed boost to clear your head and continue with your wedding planning.

Say No

Your parents and in-laws will besiege you with a lot of requests in this period. So will some of your friends. Build up your core strength to the point where you can successfully say No. If you don’t, your stress levels might take you out before your wedding planning is done. Try to be as polite as you can when saying your “Nos,” though.

Delegate

Delegating is one of the things that you can do to reduce your stress when planning your wedding. Asking for help might not be natural to you, but please do yourself a favor and remember that there are people who love and want you to succeed. Let them help.

Talk to A Therapist

Sometimes you could do all of the above and those feelings will still not go away. In that case, it’s time to speak to an expert who can help. You don’t even have to leave your home to do this. Contact an online therapist. Here is a good read about it. They’ll guide you through what you’re feeling and how to handle it effectively. Best of luck!!!
