Street Talk, July 23, 2011: MyFoxNY.com
Hello and happy SATURDAY, vintage lovers!
I know … it’s Saturday?!
I don’t ever post on Saturday! Well, today is an exception because earlier this week I was lucky enough to appear on set at the My Fox 5 “Street Talk.”
According to the site Earth Easy, approximately 12 million tons of textile waste is generated every year in North America alone. That’s a LOT of clothing in a LOT of landfills!
Shopping secondhand — and as you vintage lovers know, shopping for those pre-loved pieces dating at least 20 years old — is an easy, stylish way to show love for Mother Earth by refusing to invest in a new product.
We buy vintage with the intention giving life to what was once dead and in the process of “recycling” our wardrobe, adding life years to the health & harmony of our environment and its resources, too.
Click the video above to watch me share 3 complete vintage outfits I styled from 3 of my favorite NYC boutiques — 1 of a Find, A Little Wicked and Marmalade.
I share the looks with the show host [Tye!] to help spread vintage love through the entertainment of style and the enlightenment of how to best serve our planet.
Keep reading after the jump for more details on each vintage boutique, pictures of the final looks and to learn how you can win that gorgeous lucite bag from 1 of a Find Vintage!Thank you everyone for taking stylish steps toward a sustainable lifestyle! If you have a reason to share on why you shop vintage to help do good for the earth, please share your thoughts in the comments below!
