The best thing about second-hand recipe organizers is that there are often recipes still inside of them! Recently when out thrift shopping, I bought a recipe organizer that was filled with yellowed, flour-stained recipes from decades ago. It was so fun to look over the old-fashioned recipes (like rich, hearty macaroni and cheese, and chocolate fondue!).
I felt like an archaeologist on a dig. Through the organizer, I was getting a glimpse into someone’s cherished recipes… and I could imagine what it was like for them to bake and cook years ago.
If you ever come across a recipe organizer in your local consignment shop, I recommend taking a peek inside. Chances are, there are still recipes inside from the original owner. Doesn’t that sound fun? I think it’s a reason why thrift shopping is so wonderful! Share your thoughts in the comments below!
