You came. We gave you style, and you gave us purpose. Not only purpose — but the drive to bring women together in the most friendly and unassuming environments of collaborative energy and creative juices.
My heart was warmed Saturday — warmed not just because of the heat [and oh baby, was it intense] but because of the heat of your passion, and your own personal efforts to venture downtown from your uptown, east town, west town, whatever! abode to partake in an event to forge new relationships and rekindle the old.
I forged, rekindled, and yes, even mingled. Unlike other SDV events, the low stress, high social nature of this event allowed me to get to know some of you even better than I did before.
Some examples — shout outs — & tokens of love below!
Shout out to Lindsay of Cubicle Chic — yes, I know you live in Brooklyn now, and NOT the Upper East Side!
Shout out to Anne — who continues to teach me wonders of New York City that make me want to put this keyboard down right now and go forth to follow her suggestions.
Shout out to Julia — my current SpaHa neighbor/ ex-Philly neighbor, who has successfully managed to attend almost every.single.one.of.my.events. Lady, I love you.
Shout out to Sarah — a journo-friend with a penchant for California (her home!) and an undying love for all things A&E about the Big Apple
Shout out to Abby — a friend from Pennsylvania by way of my publishing past, Abby will be kickin’ it in NYC beginning July 1st! She was like a ghost before my eyes when she arrived at the sale — I couldn’t believe I was seeing her, because she didn’t let me know in advance. Woah now! Can’t wait to hang out with you more — thank you for the support since the inception of SDV, Abby!
Shout out to new friends Jamie, Christine, Clementine, and Ellen [from Boston!] — thank you so much for coming and showing support to Pink Brick House & SDV!
And of COURSE, shout outs to Jasmine & Kristen, the founders of media agency Pink Brick House who so graciously lent me their platform & space to host the first of many SDV-themed networking events & parties.
Oh gosh, I could shout out so much, I might as well make a rap song about it. But anyway, Saturday was feel-good. You looked good, and yes, the entire event DID good.
xo, SD

NEW TO THE POST!!
Style & Purpose // Saturday, June 19th, 2010 from Sammy Davis on Vimeo.
You’re Lookin’ GOOD!
The circle of socialization — it’s a beautiful thing! From left: Meredith & Lindsay of Cubicle Chic [ and to their left, Ellen, my SDV fan in Boston!]. Followed by Sarah and um, me in the Zebra!
I bonded with new friends …
I love this realization: I don’t know how I met Sandrine! But what I do know: When we met, we bonded over the fact that a.) she lived in Spanish Harlem and b.) we both loved our Pathmark at 125th Street. She’s since moved on … uptown!! But the love [and Pathmark!] are still there. Thanks for your support, Sandrine!
Hellooooo, Ellen! Ellen is from Boston — and her visits to NYC have corresponded with my last two events, including the Haiti Benefit Sale. Ellen, much love from your southern neighbor in NYC!
… and bonded with old friends, too!
Miss Sarah Bruning — this girl has more know-how about NYC nightlife than anyone else I know. I can’t wait for her to start her own publication/digital venture into all that is food, fun and fabulousness.
Like the true Upper East Sider that she is, Stephanie came prepared to buy a beautiful silk scarf to append to her bag. Stephanie and I met through the benefit sale for Haiti, and after realizing some serious commonalities [love of fashion & fitness, plus living a balanced life in mind, body & soul!] we’re getting closer not only as neighbors, but as friends!
I love getting pictures with the fabulous ladies of Cubicle Chic — I always stick out like a sore thumb next to their lovely selves, but I think that’s why I love it: the difference brings us together in support and style blogger camaraderie.
… of course, I loved selling you SDV to make you feel good inside & out …
Brand spankin’ new SDV customer Jamie [right] picked up one of the cutest, most romantic pieces in the collection — this rose button-up dress. Easy to transition from street style to sleep style!
Lindsay of Cubicle Chic took home this gorgeous silk scarf. Our next project: a video on how to tie scarves every which way for summer
The nautical belt buckles from the Eastern Shore of Maryland [what up, Easton, MD!] were a HUGE hit. Didn’t grab a picture with her, but good friend from back in the day Kim Last scored a few at a huge friend discount! [what’s the friends discount, you ask? Well … just ask!]
Plus: A deserving thanks!
… to Kristen Dolle, co-founder Pink Brick House and the only girl I know who can rock purple hair like she was born with it …
… and Jasmine Wahi, co-founder of Pink Brick House and a new friend of SDV!
And finally! Introducing Emmelie, the first ever SDV assistant/intern. She helped out for the day and took home a fabulous new vintage wardrobe of SDV. Girl looks good in anything — and has more drive than a race car. For reals! <3 ya Emmelie
Oh! We CANNOT forget about Channa, Jasmine’s gorgeous Chihuahua! He got [and gave] lots of purpose & love to the event.
Loving your dress.
Love it! Look like a success!
