Have you ever come across a gorgeous bed frame, and thought to yourself, “I wonder what I could do with this?” Some bed frames have stunning curves, details, and scroll work, and it’s hard to pass them up. Well, here are three ideas for upcycling bed frames! Enjoy.
1. Shallow Display Shelf
Turn a wooden twin bed frame into a pretty shelf with this neat DIY project! This is a great option if the frame includes a solid, flat surface that will work well as the back portion of the shelf. You could use the shelf to display dishware, like in the photo above, or books, vases of flowers, or photographs.
2. Shabby Chic Bench
Antique bed frames can turn into gorgeous, shabby chic benches. Use recycled wood as the seat, the bed frame for the back and arms, and top with a few throw pillows and a blanket. Voila! You now have the perfect addition to your garden, porch, or entryway.
3. Garden Trellis
If you come across a metal bed frame with lots of vertical lines, consider turning it into a garden trellis. The vertical features become poles that plants can climb up, and the pretty curves and details of the bed frame give the garden a little bit of extra beauty! You could paint the bed frame to match your other garden decor, too. Be sure to choose a water-proof, weather resistant paint. As an alternative, use an interior paint and feature the trellis inside, as a way to display your houseplants.
Sometimes when I am at my local Good Will store, I see stacks of old, discarded bed frames. I love knowing ways that they can be used, so I can keep my eye out for particularly pretty bed frames!
