Presenting the Sammy Davis Vintage Benefit Sale

Presenting the Sammy Davis Vintage Benefit Sale 4

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been talking about this sale a lot lately.

Whether you follow this blog, or my musings on Twitter and excitement on Facebook, you’ve learned that something big is brewing on Sunday, April 18th — and that it involves helping the planet through the purchase of sustainable fashion that also benefits the education of a teen girl in a developing country.

My rhyming entrepreneurial soul mate — Tammy Tibbetts — founded She’s the First as a global campaign to enlighten the world to importance of providing a means for education to the millions of teen girls unable to attend school in developing countries.

Why is it important to support female education? When girls gain higher learning, they can translate those skills into contributions toward their local economy.  Education also empowers personal knowledge that aides a better quality of life, including smaller families, stronger relationships with their community, and a skill set enabling greater income and incentive to budget and save for the future of their children.

Sure, I want to sell great fashion and meet fantastic women on Sunday. And I know you do too! But the ulterior motive is to show you firsthand just how you can use your own creative talents to raise money to give a girl — ANY girl! — a light, a burning energy, a dream! to “be the first” in whatever she chooses to do with her knowledge and its resulting power.

Through help from The Haiti Outreach program, I’m sponsoring the education of 14-year-old Cherdeline with my sale on Sunday. I loved her for the fire in her eyes — and the bow! — and for the fact that she wants to help her community by studying to be a nurse.

If you’re looking for a way to give back — to do something small that leaves a BIG impact on the life of another — watch this PSA video by She’s the First. Feel the chills, the inspiration, the motivation! to help girls everywhere become “the first” in whatever it is that the gift of education inspires them to do or be.

Tammy will be at the sale on Sunday, glowing as you all enjoy the style and social atmosphere that is created by SDV. Talk to her about She’s the First and any ideas you may have to get involved using your own creative talents.

Sunday can’t come soon enough. Style with substance — and now global action!

As always, email me with questions, special requests, or just to say HOLLER!

xo,

SD

This is a sensational, sparkling post, Sammy – thank you!! She’s the First is so lucky to have your stylish support. I am so proud of how you’ve set the example of how young women can fund a sponsorship in a fun, attainable way. You’ve been an amazing ambassador for the campaign and a catalyst for this whole global movement of women helping girls around the world get educated – it’s truly the cause of our generation.

Plus, I couldn’t think of a better way to describe our special bond – honored to be your rhyming/brunette counterpart. xoxo
    Much love!!
    Tammy
