Sammy D TV // Episode 9 // How to Get Into Your Grandmother’s Closet [without freaking her out] from Sammy Davis on Vimeo.

Welcome to an episode of Sammy D TV shot live from my hometown of Lancaster, PA!

I came home for a mini vacation / errands reprieve and to celebrate my 24th birthday [March 16th baby!] with a visit to my friend’s grandmother’s closet/attic.

What did I find? Well, check out the hat I’m wearing. That — and much more!

My 5 tips on how to score vintage from your grandmother’s closet [or just any older relative/friend of the family]:

1.) COMPLIMENT/ASK “Do you have anything from when you were my age?”
2.) BE ENTHUSED/EXCITED/EXUBERANT
3.) EXPLAIN VALUE OF VINTAGE
4.) SET A DATE
5.) WRITE A THANK YOU CARD

And there you have it folks. Have any further tips? Leave ’em in the comments or shout me a holler!

Nice, Sam! Those hats really look awesome. I saw some things like it being sold on the street yesterday, but not only do these look better, but they’re AUTHENTIC! What awesome “gets.” Great tips. Always have to be polite and gracious.

“You’re grandparents probably aren’t on email, and if they are… KUDOS!” Hahahaha!

First of all, the e-mail content is amazing.
Second of all, the comment about using your grandparents is super awesome.

But I gotta say, handwritten notes are amazing, and grown-ups always love them. Big up for that lesson, Sammy!

I love this video! Also, I hope you’re going to be selling those amazing hats because I would like to buy many of them please. Where and how and when can I do that?!?! (I am 100% serious. I love vintage hats. They’re my thing.)

Great video! I found you through searching about Kate Middleton [great SEO!] and have enjoyed the few posts I’ve read.Looking forward to reading – and watching – more!

I’d love to wear more hats, but I tend to chicken out.
