On November 1st, I had the pleasure and the honor of emceeing the one year anniversary birthday bash and fundraising event for She’s the First, a NYC-based non profit tirelessly working to connect amazing people like you to girls worldwide in need of your support to pursue their dreams by being “the first” in their families to gain an education.
Unless you count that time I emceed a fashion show in the gym of a Philadelphia middle school [lol!], this was my FIRST time ever emceeing an event! It was a ton of fun to talk about She’s the First and direct the event and rev up the crowd. There was SO much going on at the party, which was held at a really awesome space at Pop Burger in midtown Manhattan. The wooden floors and low lights gave the crowd a sexy appeal … plus the style & substance of looking good and feeling great while DOING GOOD to help girls all around the world to be the women they dream to be through the blessings of education.
I’m proud to share on behalf of She’s the First that the event raised more than $3,000!! Half will sponsor the education of a girl at the Shanti Bhavan school in India and half benefits the She’s the First Campus program budget
So amazing. I was so inspired by everyone who showed their support — and fabulous style — at the event. Thank you She’s the First for allowing Sammy Davis Vintage to participate in such a charitable, feel-good cause! I can’t wait to share the video with you — live on my YouTube channel on Monday!! — so that you can get a true feel for how much fun we had at the event and the goodness it spread to the world while we were experiencing it ;-)
Happy weekend everyone! As always … send me a note if you have any questions/want to vent/want to share/want to boast! I love hearing from you!
She’s the First founder Tammy Tibbetts smiles as the celebratory cake by GoodieBox Bake Shop is carried forward!
There we are … Sammy & Tammy [gotta love the rhyming names!] celebrating the 1-year anniversary!
Attendees to the event were encouraged to write notes of encouragement to the students at Shanti Bhavan … I wrote one telling the girls that I believed they could accomplish anything they put their minds to. And I believe it!
Sammy D = sucker for sequins! So not only did I wear a full-sequined stunner to emcee the event in sparkling style, but I donated one of my favorite sequin tops to raffle off!
The raffle was FULL of prizes … so many people took home fun gifts that helped a GREAT cause!
Teeny tiny multi-tiered cupcakes of deliciousness! Made by Goodiebox Bakeshop!
Attendees enjoying the event, including Shontelle [singer/songwriter with some amazing talent!] and representatives from Universal Motown pictured here. Along with food, drink, photo booth, letter writing and raffle [phew, it was busy busy!] the official She’s the First bracelet, as designed by Asha Patel!
YUM! Mini burgers, AKA “Pop” Burgers!
If I could watch the performance of Infin8 again, I would put it on REPEAT! The dance troupe has been called “enchantingly chic” by the NYT … and with good reason!
SO MANY SEQUINS! These girls are obviously style soul sisters … and I may be taking a lesson with Infin8 for a future Sammy Davis Vintage vid! Ah!
Last, but DEFINITELY not least … the power duo! Tammy Tibbetts and She’s the First director Christen Brandt. Inspirational women to the core!
And that’s a wrap folks! Had such a great emceeing the event and I love reliving the moments through these photos. Check back on Monday for the full video on YouTube!
