Adorable DIY Dog Beds to Keep Your Pup Comfy (On a Budget)

Adorable DIY Dog Beds to Keep Your Pup Comfy (On a Budget)

by Bonnie Leave a Comment

Oh my goodness… I just got a second pup in my home, and now my place is over-run with dog beds! Because one of out pups is just four months old, he’s already ruined two dog beds from the store. That’s it! No more brand new dog beds. I started doing some research to figure out ways to make cute DIY dog beds out of second hand materials. Boy, was I surprised at how many adorable designs I found! Here are my favorite five.  I cant wait to hear which one you like the best!

Galvanized Tub

An old galvanized tin bucket or tub can be painted into a bright color. Fill it with a soft cushion (like a covered couch cushion, perhaps!) and your pooch will have a cozy little spot in the house that he won’t ever want to leave. I love the bright yellow color choice in the example above, because it could make a great accent piece for a drab room.

Up-cycled Tire

How about turning a tire into a bed? This would work well for small to medium dogs — but not big-boned pups who might feel too confined! You could fold up a used comforter for the middle, cushioned part. Cover it with a colorful, pretty vintage fabric that matches the tone that you painted the tire. This quirky bed will stand out  and be a conversation starter, for sure!

Easy-as-pie Fleece Bed

Short on time? I like this project because it can be done without sewing. If you have a sewing machine, you can sew two squares or rectangles of fleece together (or two fleece blankets cut to size), and then stuff with used bedding. As an alternative, if you don’t have a sewing machine (like me) cut the edges into fringe and then tie the fringe together. Stuff it with bedding, and it’s ready to go!

Furniture Transformation

Igor of “Endorsed by Igor” brings us this fantastic idea of transforming a furniture find into a hide-away dog bed! You could also use a nightstand (for a small pup). Or, flip a table upside down to create a four poster bed for your little fur-baby royalty!

What brings on your search for the perfect DIY dog bed? Did you just get a new pup, like I did? Share in the comments section, below! I’d also love to hear which bed you like the most!
