What To Bring With You On Your Next Thrift Shopping Adventure

What To Bring With You On Your Next Thrift Shopping Adventure

by Bonnie 1 Comment

Thrift shopping is always an adventure. The content of shops is always changing, and you never know what you are going to find! Be prepared for an amazing day by packing the following items into your purse or bag.

1. Measuring Tape

If you are on the hunt for furniture, it is essential that you bring a measuring tape. You might think that you will be able to “eyeball” whether that dresser will fit between the bed and your wall, but most of the time it is very hard to judge, and you’ll end up carting the thing back in hopes of a return.

Furniture looks very different in a large, high-ceiling-ed warehouse behind the Good Will than it does in your cozy bedroom. Play it safe and take measurements of your space as well as your furniture finds.

2. A Camera

Have you ever noticed that you look heavier or thinner based on the mirror you are using? Glass can distort your image if it has the slightest bend. Take a picture so that you can judge the way an object fits without the distortion of a funky mirror.

3. Water and a Snack

Did you know that people make better decisions when they are satiated, rather than hungry? When I found this out, I resolved to make important decisions on a full stomach, rather than right before lunch. And what could be more important than trying to decide whether you want that maxi dress or not?

4. Your Best Friends

Of course, you should bring your friends with you on your next shopping adventure. Map out the nearest thrift stores, and try to hit a few in one day. This is a great way to get to know a new city or spend a day together catching up.

5. The Items You Want To Match

If you are searching for the perfect top to go with a new skirt, bring the skirt with you. Need a pair of shoes to go with a new flapper style dress? Don’t leave home without that dress. You can also bring color samples if you are doing some decorating. These resources will make for a much more successful shopping trip.

When you pack your bag correctly, you can shop for bargains longer and make excellent decisions.  You’ll end up with furniture, decor, shoes and clothing that works well with your existing style, and you’ll have fun while hunting! What is your favorite item to bring on your shopping trips? Leave a note below.
